Every time at the fundraiser, each demonstrator needs to make door prizes for each participants.  The door prize that I made this time was Sweet Cups with the dome.  I made a similar project for my roommate as a gift at Orlando On-Stage last year.   Last time I used a mason jar for my project and I decided to make the same project with the Sweet Cup this time.  There are a couple of ladies at the fundraiser that asked about the project, so I decided to make an instruction for it.

I used Clear DIY Plastic Ornaments Balls to make the dome.  It’s not Christmas time, so I cannot find the Ornament Balls in the craft store.  I found them on Amazon for a very good price.  Here is the link for the DIY Plastic Ornaments Balls here.

Here is how:

  • Use the template to cut the belly band in the new Come Sail Away Designer Series Paper (DSP).  I cut one Sweet Treat Cup and traced the cup on the paper as template.

  • Glue the DSP on the cup.
  • I used the Layering Circles Dies to cut the DSP circle to fit the cup lid.  I put the dies on the lid to see which circle fits the lid the best.

  • I also used the Layering Circles Dies to cut the scallop circles for the sentiment for the cup.  The best way to determine which scallop circle dies to use is to lay the dies on the sentiment.  I cut the larger scallop circle in Night of Navy color and smaller scallop circle in Whisper White color.

  • I really like “Set Sail In The Direction of Your Dreams” saying in the stamp set so I decided to use this sentiment in my project.  I stamped the sentiment in Night of Navy color.
  • I stamped the small sail boat in both Night of Navy and Crumb Cake colors and cut the boat out with the Smooth Sailing Dies.

  • I cut the sails from the crumb cake image and used the Stampin’ Dimensionals to attached to the Night of Navy boats.
  • I used Pool Party Dark Stampin’ Blends Marker to color the water under the boat.

  • Glue the sentiment scallop circles to the cup lid and use Stampin’ Dimensionals to attached boat next to the sentiment.

  • Clear DIY Plastic Ornaments Balls has the  two pieces in a set.  Each piece has plastic a hoop at top so you can use twine or ribbon to tie both pieces to become one ornament.  We only need one piece of the ornament to make this project so each ornament can make two sweet cups.
  • I used the knife to cut the ornament to make the mark on the plastic hoop.

  • After I made the mark to the hoop, I used the appliance to break the hoop.  I tried to break the hoop by hand but it did not make the hoop break evenly.  By making the marks, the hoop breaks easier and evenly.

  •  I still have some Tranquil Textures Sprinkles from last catalog so I add some to my project.

  • I used the hot glue gun to attached the ornament to the cup lid.  The easiest way to glue the ornament to the lid is to put the glue on the lid.

  • Hold the lid upside down and attached the dome to the lid.  Set the dome upside down so the Tranquil Textures Sprinkles will not stick to the glue while it set.

  • Glued the Pretty Peacock 1/2″ Scalloped Linen Ribbon to the side of the cup lid.

Here are the cups that I made with other decorations.

The sweet cups are not available in the new catalog anymore but I still have some.  If you want to make the project but don’t have the cup.  Please contact me so you can get some!!!
