Paper Pumpkin April 2019 Alternative: Mother's Day Card

I really like the large, detailed image of the large rose from this month’s Paper Pumpkin box, so I decided to make a Mother’s Day card from it.

I stamped the stamp images from the Paper Pumpkin box on the Whisper White cardstock so you can see the images better. I randomly selected the Poppy Parade color for the rose and actually, I like it very much so I decided to use this color for the card. This Poppy Parade color has some orange shades in the red. There are several reds in the Stampin’ Up world, and here is the picture to show you the colors side by side.

Here is the card I created for the Mother’s Day.

Here is the measurement for the papers:

Poppy Parade Card Stock:
- 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″
- 5 x 3 for cutter out the letters
Old Olive Card Stock: 4″ x 5 1/4″
Whisper White Card Stock:
- 3 3/4″ x 5″ (outside the card)
- 5 1/4″ x 4″ (for inside the card for message)

Here is how:

Fold the Poppy Parade Card Stock in half as the card base.
Glue the 5 1/4″ x 4″ Whisper White Card Stock inside the card for the message
Stamp flowers and leaves on the 3 3/4″ x 5″ Whisper White card stock.
Use Large Letters Framelits to cut out MOM on stamped Whisper White card stock and 5″ x 3″ Poppy Parade Card Stock. If you don’t have this Large Letters Framelits Die set, it is the must have. It is retiring. You need to get it before they are gone.
Glue the Whisper White card stock on the Old Olive card stock.
Wrap Linen Thread around the card twice and tie a bow.
Glue the Whisper White/Old Olive card stock to Poppy Parade Card base.
Use Stapmin’ Dimensionals to attached the Poppy Parade color letters to the card. I did not put the letters to the exact same area that we cut out the letter. I positioned the letters a little bit off to the right, so the Old Olive card stock color can be displayed and it looks like the shadow of the letters.

Add some Rhinestones to the card to “Bling” the card up.

I still have three cut out letters from the first cars and I don’t want them to go waste. I created another card to use them.

Here is the measurement for the papers:

Whisper White Card Stock: 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″
Poppy Parade Card Stock: 4″ x 5 1/4″
Basic Black Card Stock: 3 3/4″ x 5″

Here is how:

Fold Whisper White Card Stock in half as card base.
Use Tufted Embossing Folder to emboss the Basic Black card stock.
Glue the Basic Black card stock on the Poppy Parade card stock.
Wrap Old Olive Linen Thread around the card twice and tie a bow.
Glue the Black/Poppy Parade card stock to Whisper White Card base.
Use Stapmin’ Dimensionals to attached the letters from the first card to the card.
Add some Rhinestones to the card to “Bling” the card up.

I actually like the Black card more than the original card that I created. I know the black color is not the traditional color for Mother’s Day card, but the black card gave more contrast for the colors.
