My grandma had some chickens when I was a little girl, now every time when I see chickens, I think about my grandma. Today I am going to show you an easy and quick card for the Roosters. The best thing is that the Designer Series Paper and Stamp set that I use in this card you can get for FREE with a $50.00 order.
Here is the measurement for the paper
- Whisper White – 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 (cut 8 1/2 x 11 paper in half in long way), 2 3/4 x 2 3/4, scrap for the rooster.
- Real Red- 5 1/4 x 4, 3 x 3, scraps to punch out three little hearts
- Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper- 5 x 3 3/4
Here is how:
- Fold Whisper White paper in half.
- Glue Real Red Cardstock and Botanical Butterfly DSP on the Whisper White Cardstock.
- Stamp the rooster in Memento Black Ink. We are going to color the rooster with Stampin Blends (alcohol base markers). If we use water base Ink the colors will smudge and make the image look dirty.

- I colored the rooster with Stampin Blends : Light Daffodil Delight, Light Bermuda Bay, and Light Old Olive. I also used the Real Red marker.
- I first color the whole chicken with Light Daffodil Stampin Blend.
- Then I color the comb and wattle in Real Red marker. I also use Light Bermuda Bay Stampin Blend to highlight the feather shadow area on the rooster.
- I accent the feather shadow area with some Old Olive Stampin Blend color.
- Last, I used the Light Daffodil Delight Stampin Blend to color over the neck area again to make the area look darker and give the rooster a more natural look.
- Cut out the rooster by hand.

- Stamp the reed on 2 3/4 x 2 3/4 Wisher White square in Old Olive ink. I stamped the reeds on paper twice before I re-ink it to create a different shade of green for the reeds.

- Stamp the sentiment above the reeds.
- Use the Stampin Dominations to put the rooster on reeds and layer the Whisper White square with the Real Red 3 x 3 square. Then attach the square to the card base. Here is the angle from the side way so you can see the rooster is raised up by the Stampin Dominations

- I used the Dog Builder to punch out three small hearts and glue them under the rooster square since the sentiment is “Thanks for your Friendship”. I think the hearts are really appropriate. 🙂
