😊😊Happy Thursday😊😊
I haven’t been home in Taiwan for six years. The date of the Chinese New Year changes every year because, it’s based on the lunar calendar. The coming year is the Rabbit and the first day of the new year was 1/21/2023. The last time I went home for the Chinese New Year was twenty-two years ago, so I am super super excited about this trip to go home for the Chinese New Year. I have posted several videos and pictures of my trip on Facebook during this trip. I just realized that some of my web page subscribers are not my Facebook friends, so I am sharing my trip on my blog as well.
We celebrate Chinese New Year for fifteen days. The celebration began with the family reunion dinner on the new year eve. All the family members gather together to enjoy the big meal. We will enjoy the talks around the tables and catch up on each other’s life. The longer that you stay up, the longer life that your parents will live, so we normally have a special TV show all night long.
First day of the Chinese New Year: We will go to visit relatives and friends and wish everyone to have a great coming year. The kids usually will get Red Envelopes that has money inside when you visit the elders.
2nd day of the Chinese New Year: visit in laws. This is the day the married daughters will bring families to visit the parents. Since my grandmom passed away and my mom is the oldest one among five brothers and sisters, so we are having dinner at my house.
