10 Weeks of Christmas- Week 8 Birds of a Feather

The 8th project of the “10 Weeks of Christmas” series is this cute Christmas Bird Card.

I love this “Birds of a Feather” stamp set. You can pretty much use these four little guys to make the cards for all occasions.  The chicken holds the heart image can be used for a Valentine’s Day card, birthday card, thinking of you card etc.. the list goes on and on.  For the little Santa bird, once you cut the Santa’s hat off, you can use it for any occasions.

I got the inspiration of this card form the “Night before Christmas” Designer Series Paper.  The Paper features traditional Christmas imagery and basic all-purpose patterns that give you options for Christmas and beyond. This fun designer paper will help you get into the spirit of the season.  There are 12 double-sided designs for the paper and one of the paper designs caught my eyes.  When I saw the paper of the light bulbs I came up with this card.

Here are the measurements for the paper:

• Real Red (102482):
  • 5 ½ x 8 ½
• Whisper White (100730):
  • 5 ¼ x 4 (inside the card)
  •  2 ½ x 2 ½ (bird
  • 1 x 2 ½ (sentiment)
• Crumb Cake (120953):
  • 4 x 5 ¼
• Silver Foil Sheets (132178):
  • Scrap for the lights
• All colors:
  • Scrap for the lights

Here is how:

• Fold the Real Red CS in half in the long way as the card base.
• Glue the Whisper White CS inside the card for the message.
• Embossed the Wreath image on Crumb Cake CS with Seasonal Wreath 3D EF.
• Glue embossed Crumb Cake CS to the card base.
• Use the Wreath image as a guide and arrange the Linen Thread to the “circle” shape. I used the Glue Dots to secure the Linen Thread. Make sure the “connect” area of the Linen Thread is on the top right corner. We will use the “sentiment” to cover it later.
• Stamp the sentiment on the 1 x 2 ½ Whisper White strip and attached it to the card base. Make sure to cover the Linen Thread for the lights.
• Stamp the bird on Whisper White CS and color it with the Stampin’ Blender Markers.
• Add Snowfall Accents Puff Paint to the White trim on the hat. Use the Heat Tool to “Puff” the area.
• Hand cut the bird out and attach to the center of the Wreath.
• Use Christmas Bulb Builder Punch to punch out the lights in many different colors.
• Arrange the lights around the Linen Thread with Pop Dots.
