I got this cute bee desk easel calendar from one of our fundraisers.  Last week, we made another easel calendar in our group meeting with the current product.  I really like the new DSP and butterflies design from my upline Sherri Peters, so I decided to combine these two desk calendars into one.

Below is the desk drawer easel calendar that I came up with.  The finished size is 4 1/4 (L) x 4 1/4 (W) x 1 3/8 (H).  The butterflies are cut from the “Butterfly Beauty Thinlits Dies”.  You can get “Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper” or “Butterfly Elements” FREE with a $50.00 order.  I used the “Butterfly Elements” as a page stop for the easel part.

Here is how to make this calendar:

  • Easel Calendar Part:
    • Solid Color Cardstock: (3) 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 .(two for the Easel Calendar part, one for the base)
    • Solid Color Cardstock: 4 1/4 x 8 1/2.  Scored in long way at 4 1/4, 6 3/8
    • DSP: (2) 4 x 4
  1. Fold the 4 1/4 x 8 1/2 paper on the scored lines so your paper looks like the picture below

2.  Glue the 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 paper to the longer paper as the picture below

 3. The DSPs are glued on the top and inside of the 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 squares

  • Drawer Part:
    • Solid Color Cardstock: 8 x 8.  Scored at 1, 2, 6, 7 in both side.  Cut the grey part out as the picture below.  Dash lines are the folding lines and solid lines are the cut lines.
    • DSP: 3/4 x 3 3/4

1. Cut and fold the cardstock as diagram/picture above.

2. Put the glue on the backside of the small squares.

3. Fold over the side flap into the box and glue it.  Repeat for the opposite side of the box

4. Fold over the other two flaps into the box and glue the sides.

  • Drawer Holder part:
    • Solid Color Cardstock: 6 3/8 x 9 3/8.  Scored long side 4 1/8 from both sides.  Scored short side 1 1/8 from both sides
    • DSP: (3) 1 x 3 3/4

1. Fold and cut the cardstock as the picture

2. Put the glue on the backside of the two small square flaps

3. Glue two small flaps to one side of the walls to form a 90 degree angle

4. Glue the other two sides to form a box.  The drawer that we just made should fit into this drawer holder.

Now you assemble all three piece together.  The Easel part on the top and glue the easel bottom to the drawer holder.  Make sure your easel is facing in the right direction.  Then you glue the bottom of the drawer hold to the 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 base.

Glue the 3 3/4 x 3/4 DSP to the front of the drawer.  Glue the three 3 3/4 x 1 DSP to three sides of the drawer holder.

I used “Butterfly Beauty Thinlits Dies” to cut out the butterflies to decorate the calendar.  I cut the bolder butterflies in Gorgeous Grapes color and thinner butterflies in Highland Heather color. These butterflies are perfectly lined up and you can cut them apart to use in difference places.

Then I use the Butterfly Elements as the drawer knob and the stopper for the easel calendar.  I used the Stampin’ Dimensionals to attached the Butterfly Elements to the calendar to make the stopper higher so it will stop the easel part better.
